In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

    Mega-ray 100

Hello. I've just put a Mega-ray 100W mercury vapor bulb in a deep dome unit above one of our tanks. I have it approx 22 inches above the basking area as the turtles stack up on each other and the one on top would be around 18 inches from the bottom of the bulb. My wife felt the heat from the...

    Obese tiger salamander

Hello. Our previously very sick tiger salamander is now doing very well. However, he started becoming obese before he was returned to his aquarium. I guess this was due to a long period of inactivity before he was returned to the aquarium. I have reduced feeding to twice a week from the...

Hello. On Saturday I returned a previously sick tiger salamander to his tank. New substrate and a clean tank. I put a newly acquired piece of bark in the tank for him to hide behind. When I came to work this morning I notice a small area of mold on the bark. Typical looking grey mold. Just...

When do tiger salamanders stop growing?

My son's tiger salamander has seemingly recovered from a long period of illness and is now eating like there's no tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone could give me an approx. age at which they stop growing. We've had him for around a year now and he's 9 inches long. Obviously no growth at all...

    Digging up a tiger salamander.

Hello. I inquired a while back about the reasons for a tiger salamander not eating. I changed the substrate in case that was part of the problem and shortly after the salamander disappeared into it. That was about a week ago and I haven't seen any sign of him since. There is no sign of a...

    Sick tiger salamander?

Hello. I bought my son a tiger salamander in August last year. All was well for a while. He spent lots of time above ground and was confident. He had a very good appetite and would eat crickets, meal worms, roaches, small pieces of meat and shrimps. He grew fast. In a short period of time he...
