• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Mailing tortoises?

I just had someone tell me that the fact that it is illegal to ship turtles USPS does not apply to tortoises. Opinions? 525 Nonmailable Live Animals Nonmailable types of animals discovered in the mailstream must be reported to the PCSC in accordance with the instructions in POM 139.118...

    Know your way around Paypal

I found an interesting thread today. Paypal has a lot of weirdness, so it is your choice whether to find another payment method. I'm posting the link to the thread but please add indo or experiences that might help those who do choose to use it. Overall, I have had mostly good experiences...

    Prepared

From rodents to regulations to fires to...well...almost any disaster, it is good to think ahead. While one can't plan for every detail, certainly one can gather go-to people that can help when you need it right now. Here is a book I read a while back from a company which I first met while...

    Participation in the BOI

Admittedly it is rough and tumble in the BOI sometimes, but as the site has evolved there is a level of oversight that permits directness but not name calling. It does seem to me that here on this site, and at most sites I've seen, there are some who are more verbal and others who prefer to...

    Back to back critter shipping?

Sometimes when ordering a critter from a vendor, they are not the producer but instead get the critters from other places. If one wants some critters from a particular incoming shipment, is it OK to have them reshipped right away or should one ask the vendor to hold onto the critters and get...

Disclosures to Buyers: Warning, this coffee is hot

A first time gecko purchaser wanted to return and receive a refund for an Enigma gecko which after shipping started showing some of the neurological Enigma traits of which the purchaser was unaware. This seemed to be an otherwise healthy critter. How much disclosure/education do you think...

    Inquiry Brandon Boyles aka Venomman20

He has put up an ad requesting donations to fund a critter haven, but all of the rest of his posts are classified buying/selling ads. http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=305801 Anyone know of this critter haven and is it legit?

    'No Live Arrival Guarantee'

I was reading a frog ad this morning and at the end of the ad, saw this disclaimer. I've seen it from time to time in other ads as well. I realize that shipping is part of the biz, but why would anyone consider shipping at all if it was so risky that a disclaimer of this nature had to be...

    Inquiry BallBids.com?

Clicked on their banner ad that appeared here on Fauna, curious about their advertised too-good-to-be-true ad that showed a lemon blast sold for $3.76, a pastel for $15.36, etc. Any info?

    Premature Boiculation

It looks like this illness is on the rise. Folks are not waiting for their partners in biz from the beginning of the transaction to the end, but instead run and make an issue, a big tsimmis, sometimes within hours of any perceived discontent. I absolutely believe that it is important, and...

    Good Guys? Or Not?

I read an article this morning about how the businesses on some review sites get nice good guy reviews....for a price. I reflected that those kind of fake reviews are more difficult to slide in here because of the BOI process. Sometimes, when someone posts a Good Guy review for a business here...

Don't Put Your Common Sense on Hold

There are tools you can use to help you as a buyer or seller increase your chances of having a good deal where all parties are happy with a transaction. One powerful tool is reviewing the BOI. If your buyer or seller has a BOI history you can review it to see whether you want to proceed with a...

    Flipping babies

A lot has been written lately on this site on the subject of flipping/reselling animals. Many people buy critters and later resell them, and some buy critters in order to resell them. A major concern when this is done is the health of the critter in question, unfortunately sometimes this is...
