• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.
  • Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Snakes Eat Strawberries ?

Perhaps. Clearly not the intent of the LiveScience article nor the context of Professor Liston's comment. My intent posting - is solely that uninformed people reading such an article will believe snakes (in general) will eat strawberries. And I have no doubt having read the story - then finding...

Man Bitten by Rattlesnake in Connecticut

As I’ve previously posted, MAJORITY of venomous bites occur to non-reptile people doing stupid stuff. Here is another example. So, while the guy had good intentions to save the snake from the roadway – his approach was unskilled and without knowledge. Notice he was also trying to rehab a bat...

    Rough Scaled 2024 Examples

I would not say these traits are unique to sand boas in general nor to rough scaled sand boas in particular. Various genetic morphs are known in most all species and I would recommend you Google about morphs among the species. Similar morphs or traits are found in many species - such albinism...

Rough Scaled Sand Boa "New Morph"

Thanks CK ! Agree on the RSSBs not taken seriously enough. Perhaps "we the conicus nuts" can change that asap. They really are fine animals. I am confident diet preferences are strongly genetic.

Invasive Species are Transforming the Everglades

Knowable Magazine May 30, 2024 “From Burmese pythons and Asian swamp eels to Old World climbing ferns, South Florida hosts hordes of non-native animals and plants. What can be done about the ecological havoc they are wreaking?” “Like few other places, Florida’s unintended runaway experiment...

Common Blood Thinners Could Combat Cobra Venom

“Common Blood Thinners Could Combat Cobra Venom”. Science 18 July 2024 “When a snake sinks its fangs into flesh and injects its deadly venom, some of the toxins start to tear through tissues almost immediately. The destruction these toxins can wreak leaves some 400,000 people maimed by...

    Rough Scaled 2024 Examples

Glad you like some I've produced. RP = reduced pattern. The "blaze" and "orange" are line bred. And then line bred into the morph gene carriers. RP is really a line bred pattern that I describe as being "reduction in the blotch sizes and shapes". More related to the reduction of the...

Rough Scaled Sand Boa "New Morph"

I have never inbred conicus. At most, some parents may be 12.5% related. It takes a long time but turns out much better in the long run. I'm old enough to recall the first amel Burmese when inbred were just vicious animals. The first amel corns often had kinks, or had body loops attached...

Rough Scaled Sand Boa "New Morph"

This is a new phenotype / morph for 2024. The pattern popped up a few years ago and as is my practice, I outbreed traits first so as to have only minimal inbreeding. The examples here are all 2024 from two litters from unrelated "het" parents. I use quotes because it's yet early in working...

    Rough Scaled 2024 Examples

I continue to work with various phenotypes and genetic morphs of the rough scaled sand boa. In these two posts I reference names including: spotted stripe (SS); extreme reduced (XR); and "ocelot". The SS is so-called to distinguish it from other forms of striping such as zig-zag (another...
