In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Steps To Become Fedex Certified!!!

I am just starting this whole process. I just signed up for my account online so i am guessing the next step is to get my box tested and to talk to my area rep.

One question, will the fedex boxes pass the testing? I read in an earlier post where it said you could not use a fedex box and was wondering if this is still true or if now you can use one of their boxes?

Also, should i talk to my rep before sending in the box or just go ahead and send in the box to get tested?

I just set up an account with FedEx. They are mailing me the info packet/contract and my shipping labels. I wonder how it will work exactly for the test box. Should be interesting. Thanks for this post it has helped a lot!

Yes you can use FedEx boxes. I used an 11x11x11. It will tell you on the bottom of the box the weight limit and the one I used was 30 pounds. Line the inside with syrofoam half inch or three quarters is fine. Put in your snake bag, deli cup, etc. with a fake reptile or even a note card that says "I am a reptile" You dont have to use a heat pad but I taped one to the lid just like I would when I ship. Last thing to make sure of is to use another larger box and use newspaper to cushion around your box you want tested and just write test inner box on the outside of the package. Call FedEx Testing and they will give you their account number to bill to 2nd day Express and that is all there is to it. You do not have to talk to your rep before shipping to the testing facility. Good luck

http://fedex.com/us/services/express/packaging/tips.html,[/url] scroll down towards the bottom and click on a link that says 'complete this form' under the heading "Packaging Testing or Evaluation". This is the form you will have to print and fill out to send with your package.

This has probably been mentioned by now but the link in the quote is no longer valid.
Instead try the following link that takes you to a page with links to the application as well as the instructions.

Fed-Ex certified ? Whats the point ?

I am Fed -ex certified for shipping live harmless reptiles . After jumping through all the hoops required I am now told that they wont accept shipments unless it's from a business to a business . They won't accept shipments for residential delivery . They wont allow a shipment to be picked up by an individual at the nearest terminal . They wont allow a shipment to an individual at work . Most of my customers are individuals , not pet shops . This makes the entire certification process absolutely useless to me . I have stopped using Fedex to avoid a debate with the lady at the counter every time I go to ship . Anyone else having these issues?

That sounds like an issue with that particular terminal/employee - contact your rep, explain the situation, and see what can be done. The waiver IS for business to business...but there is no reason (that I am aware of) that one couldn't ship a package to be held at a FedEx terminal - heck, I do that all the time.

Well , I have contacted my rep on several occasions and discussed all of the above issues . The answers are still the same . They won't accept the shipments .

I don't have any of those issues. I don't debate the finer points of the waiver either. Home based businesses are considered business to business. You can send it business zoned and sometimes they will change it to residential, sometimes they don't. The package is still delivered. I complete all labels online then drop them off. It really has been simple. I have my rep stored on speed dial on my cell phone if I have any problems at the terminal.

ok...Is that the answer from your rep, or is the employee at the hub the one refusing to accept them?

The employee at the hub refuses to accept them . I have asked my rep about this and he told me "Yes it has to be b2b and they said no to pick ups at the terminal and no deliveries to residential "

I had the same problem today.I am certified.I dropped a snake off to be shipped, later I get a call saying they won't ship it?? Tomorrow I will be chewing them out. Did I waste my time getting certified?

It must have to do with the individual representatives or locations.
We got our Certification and our Rep made a follow up call to help us figure out where would be the best palce for us to ship from. He noted that due to our isolated location we could not pick-up ship for overnight delivery so he helped us figure out where we could do our shipping from.

After being on the phone for a while,I straightened everything out.I aranged for them to pick it up at my work and had a copy of my testing and waiver papers just in case.Hopefully everything will go as planned now!

I've sort of been scanning this post, not too much b/c for some reason my computer doesn't like this site and keeps giving me an error and closing it so I apologize for asking questions that I am sure have already been asked within the 59 pages of this post.

I signed up for an acct online. What next?? Do I need to call and speak with someone or can I just send in a test box. Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks so much!!

Thank you all

I just got my contract and wanted to thank you all for your help getting fedex certified. I shipped my first ball pythons this week and was happy how easy it was. It couldn't have been done with out all the help here :D Thanks guys and gals

Test Box

Yes just send off your test box and while that is being done get in contact with your local rep. They will send your stuff back to you if you check bill 3rd party recipient and call for their account number. You dont need to send heat packs but if you do no need in activating them as you will want to use them later. Good luck with the rest of the process!
The thing I am seeing now is that shipping has went up so much that noone wants to pay 100 bux for a 25 dollar snake. If something isnt done about fuel the reptile/amphibian business will be in trouble. For example I have people that have wanted ringnecks and western worms and I have over 20 in very good health and eating everything from worms to lizards. They sell for 25-35 apiece but they wont pay the high cost of shipping so all of them will be released back into the wild soon. Life!

Thank you so much!! How would i go about finding my local rep??? Just call Fed Ex main number??

Yes just call the FedEx number and they will have your rep contact you. Mine is out of another state so dont be surprised if they are not near your location. They will just want to touch base with you from time to time and ask a few questions as most of them are not up to date on this shipping reptile waiver and are as eager to get the ball rolling as we are.

the paper i had that i had to sign, said b2b also... i dont get it, how are bussiness out there sending reptiels to us than? im not a bussiness...
