Thumbs up Long awaited Updates!

S.E.R.C is proud to announce 2 new speakers. Join us in welcoming Alan Bosch and Professor Samuel “Chuck” Hurd to the lineup.

Alan Bosch, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana (U.S.A.) had his first experience with reptiles at 8 years of age when he captured his first snake, a ring-necked ( Diadophis punctuas ), igniting his lifelong passion for herpetology. He studied under the famed Wyoming herpetologist Dr. George T. Baxter (Bufo baxteri) while completing his BS in Wildlife Management, Terrestrial Option, Minoring in Aquatic Wildlife Management, at the University of Wyoming.

Graduation in 1979 was immediately followed by 5 months and 1,600 shows wrestling American alligators and lecturing on rattlesnakes and other poisonous reptiles at the famous REPTILE GARDENS off Highway 16 in South Dakota's Black Hills.

Real life struck in 1980 and following job stints as health club manager, pay telephone company VP and owner Alan fell back on his degree and started breeding albino Burmese Pythons ( Python molurus bivitattus ) in 1989 as a serious hobbyist and went full time in 1996. His main herp interests include Ball or Royal Pythons ( Python regius).

As President of the Coastal Carolina Herpetological Society Alan has been able to reinforce the ideals of reptile and amphibian collecting and captive maitenance as well as spearhead many local field trips and educational sessions.

His more than 40 years of interest, education, job experience and worldwide connections means you get the most for your money! Ask Alan any question and he is happy to do what he can to answer your question or put you in touch with someone who can!

Alan will also be autographing the book “The Ball Python Manual” which he co-wrote.

Chuck Hurd is a life long reptile enthusiast. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Currently Chuck is the head herpetologist at the Chattanooga Nature Center and president of the Tri-State Herpetological Society. Through the years Chuck has kept many species of snakes, from cobras to ball pythons. Currently his collection mainly includes the indigenous serpents of the southeastern United States, with a special focus on native pit vipers. His lecture will include general information and identification of the native snakes of SC and live specimens of all native SC venomous reptiles.
