It might be interesting to try to move the bowl to see if that might change his drinking behavior (though likely a lower bowl will get more substrate kicked into it, which isn't ideal). Your snake's habits sound pretty normal for a blood, though; they're heavy drinkers, so to speak.

Snakes' tracheas aren't like ours, so I don't suspect he's breathing it in. There's a bit of disagreement on humidity for bloods, and I tend to run mine higher (70-80%), so that might be a something to experiment with if you want to see him drink less (though as long as he's shedding fine, humidity is probably fine).
