Typically it consists of split scutes, bent tails or both. The imperfections may be nearly imperceptible like one split scute or a slight "hook" at the end of the tail.
More severe deformities may cause spinal/skeletal issues that make the turtle grow crooked or lopsided. A very bent tail can create issues in males mostly making breeding difficult.
Most imperfect turtles grow normally and live a long life and are popular because of their lower price.
