Ahhhh so it was just a formulaic response... interesting. I suppose the fact that they crafted the response so specific to the issue they must have gotten quite a few emails/letters about it, so perhaps that in itself is a good thing even if it appears they are not taking any of them into consideration to reevaluate her/their stance on the subject.

Basically, the Lacey Act listing was the way FWS was able to ban some large constrictors without having to go through voting process in the senate/house since it didn't appear to be able to pass that way. They have been working on getting this in effect for over 6 years and it's been a long struggle. You can read more here:
