What exactly does "leucistic" mean?

I have checked in several dictionaries, and as far as I can tell, there is no such word.

"Leuko" is a latin word used in science, which means white. (i.e. leukocyte = white blood cell; leukemia = abnormally large amount of white blood cells, etc.)

Now, I don't want to start a discussion on proper grammar, I would just like to know what it means when someone refers to a "leucistic" reptile. Obviously, they are talking about a reptile that is whiter than usual, but I have not been able to nail down the exact meaning.

Is this just a "buzzword", or does it actually have a definition?

the term leucistic (whether it is a real word, or not) refers to an all white specimen, typically with blue eyes. from its root & closely related words:
leucism - a form of incomplete albinism
leucismus - the condition of being white
occasionally, you will see "leucistics" with pink eyes...but I believe that this is an extension of the albinism - a more complete form, if you will. probably best termed albino leucistic or leucistic albino.

I did a little more looking - didn't find leucistic in any "dictionary" type sources; but found it in several glossaries, where it is defined as: "Lacking all or almost all pigment." in some of the entries, eye color was mentioned...but there seemed to be some discrepencies. most cited blue or dark eyes, but one or two stated that the eyes could be pink, and yet another came right out and said that pink eyes were not part of the leucistic trait. hope this helps.
