Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

anyone here ever have experience w/ PETA?
I just had the worst harassing of my life. I was at PetCo (yeah, I know.) yesterday buying some branches for my boa to climb on. I come outside w/ a my boa around my neck, and all I wanted was to get in my car.. BUT THESE GUYS DONT LET ME! They kept asking me for a moment, and I was in a hurry to put his new branch in his aquarium. They kept stopping me, and blocking my way. So I stop, and listen to what they wanted to say. They gave me this whole lecture about how all pet stores treat their animals so bad, and how they shouldn't be kept in captivity, and how animals do so poorly in captivity, etc. etc. etc. I was honest. "I really don't care, I'm happy w/ my boa, and I highly doubt he'd be better off in the wild than in my terrarium." They started yelling, how animals are supposed to be free, and this and that, that I didn't bother listening to.
My friend gave me a video "Penn & Teller's Bull****." was the name, I guess it was a series on ShowTime, that showed what PETA was all about... GEEEZ! also talked to the reptile specialist at PetCo, and he said they've had so many arrests at the store because of PETA. and incedences like someone slapping PETA stickers on all the cars in front of the store, and when people tried to take the sticker off, the paint went with it.
I always thought PETA was a do good organization when it comes to animals. WTF IS THIS ABOUT?!?!? After yesterday, I just GRRRR!

I always thought PETA was a do good organization when it comes to animals.
That's hows organizations like PETA and the Humane Society of the United States get millions of free dollars from people through donations. Most people have no idea what these organizations are about. Sure they want to keep animals from being abused (I don't think any rationale human wants animals abused) but they take it 20 steps further. They believe that NO animal should be kept as a pet, eaten, worn, etc. They believe that all animals are equal to humans and I'm talking cockroaches too. On their website they state that nobody is qualified to keep a reptile, nobody. They want the reptile trade shut down. They have been after Petco for a long time now. They just won a battle with Petco in which Petco will now stop selling large birds such as 'toos, AGs, 'zons, etc. Here's the link: http://www.peta.org/feat/PETCOAgreement/default.asp
They have been after KFC for some time now too.
I agree that some pet stores treat their animals horribly and I've seen it first hand too but that should be treated on a store by store basis.

The only personal experience I've ever had with PETA was at least 10 years ago, at a dog show in Minneapolis. They came into the grooming/crating area inside AND outside, and let a bunch of the dogs loose....because dogs aren't meant to be caged. Evidently, they figure the dogs are better off running loose in the streets of Minneapolis than being "confined as pets"....
I could go on for hours about PETA....but I won't. I'll share a link with you that gives you some good background on them though, if I can get it to work on here.

Peta has went the way as their fellow terrorist orginzations they support.
Peta is.................... well i cannot say it here, because it is not hell. My g/f works for kfc in a nice area of town here, so you constantly have peta morons there too harrasing the workers.
The saddest part is, you have people like a certain individual i know on a another forum who are supporters of peta, but are too stupid to read the site. They own reptiles, but support a group, that does not want them to even have them.
Looking at their site makes me sick, in reality they would rather see all the animals we keep (mammalian and reptilian) dead. Rather than to see some of us who really appreciate the animals we have and take good care of them.
Like another peta activist who bought a store out of all its lobster and set them free into a freshwater river. Too stupid to realize that you just cant put lobsters in ANY body of water you think is fit for it. Sadder part is, is that there are some talking about doing the same thing to "liberate" petstore pets. Which half of them have their heads stuck for far up their..... they don't realize the ecological meltdown they can cause with that.
PETA is also behind half of these reptile and exotic bans. Since they are the supporters who get the signatures and even push the issues.....
All i have to say is that those veggie eating idiots, better not ever step to me at a petco and make it hard for me to get in my car. They may play that freedom of speech crap outfront of petco, but what about OUR freedom to shop in peace. Heck, petco should SUE peta for that crap, for loss of business during those times. I know KFC loses business all the time, because of it. People drive by kfc and see the protestestors, they just go across the street to mcdonalds or other fast food places.
Sorry for going off in a rant here, but i really hate peta and everything it stands for. Who ever owns a reptile and is a peta supporter should really check out peta's site and the views of a majority of its supporters.

lol.. it's amazing the things you find about these people once you figure otu what they're really about.
To everyone who wants a laugh and see what it's really about, I strongly suggest people to go to blockbuster, and rent "PENN & TELLER'S BS. SEASON2, VOLUME1." I just saw it and can't help but laugh. Knowing wierd facts, like how the PETA vice president, is currently taking Insulin (an animal tested/produced medicine.), and saying "I Don't think I'm a hypocrit, I need my health to fight for the rights of other animals." DAG NANG HYPOCRIT!

I have some friends who have a turkey farm. PETA decided to protest around Thanksgiving when they are selling the bulk of their turkeys. PETA was blocking the cars from entering. My friend (the guy with the bloody apron who slits all the turkey's throats because he wants to) is getting rather upset and was going to go out there. Well, to make a long story short, PETA was run off with the use of a garden hose and water. You see, those who don't eat meat don't have much fat reserves and when you get hosed down in November it gets pretty darn cold.

I think that's one of the biggest problems......people who blindly support PETA because they hear they "protect the rights of animals" without taking any time to learn what they are truly about. It's amazing the turnaround some people will make when they hear PETA believes the lives of COCKROACHES are more valuable than human lives.
I had one of those loons chew me out on a message board one time because I was talking about finally finding a spray to kill those dang orange ladybug things (asian bettles, I think is the proper name) we've been infested with the last few years. She said I was a murderer because I didn't capture them and set them free outside.

I agree there are tons of people i find out there that say they support peta, but yet do not know the evils and true intentions of this group and its fellow local terrorist orginizations like the elf and the alf.
Like anyone who is vegan, normally is a peta person, but dont know about peta's stance on even dogs and cats.
Whats worse is that peta is coming out with comic books and other crap to preach to the younger kids about thier "way of life"

YOU KNOW what???? i just read something here, that makes that activist in front of petco look like f-n morons!!
PETA will end its boycott of PETCO and its protests at the company's stores. In agreeing to end its campaign against PETCO, PETA will take down its "PETCOCruelty" website, remove all references to "PETNO" on all sites affiliated with the organization, and withdraw its support of the use of the "PETNO" logo by other groups
http://www.peta.org/feat/PETCOAgreement/default.asp
So it means you were harrased by others who are still living under a rock.....
