I had to post this one, yet another negative snake story, just to illustrate the idiocy of some people.
The python "baring it's fangs" was bad enough, but then they barricaded themselves in another room out of fear.....of a 10 inch snake.
I would be ashamed to admit to barricading myself in a room in fear of any 10 inch snake. I can see why they didn't want their names used.
In defense of the snake I'd probably bare my fangs too if a 3 year old boy was screaming at me.
A FAMILY unwrapped their new television and were confronted with a snake slithering out of the box.
A three-year-old boy spotted it first and his screams alerted his grandparents, but also appeared to provoke the snake, which reared and bared its fangs.
Fearing the frightened snake was about to strike, the family, who do not want to be named, fled and barricaded themselves in another room at their home in Sighthill, Edinburgh, while they called the SSPCA for help.
Doreen Graham, an SSPCA spokeswoman, said: "They ordered the television online and as they were unpacking the box, a groggy snake appeared.
The snake would probably have been a bit dopey due to the heat in the room, but the reaction of the child startled the python so it reared and showed its fangs."
The snake, which is about 10in long, has been identified as a young non-poisonous Children's Python, which can grow to more than 40in. It is thought to have come from northern Australia or Malaysia. The SSPCA, which is hoping to find it a new home, has named it Monty.
