In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am just curious about one thing. Why are the people that donated money or purchased items involved? Either they agree with the concept of the victims recuperating their losses or they don't. If they don't agree then ask for the return of the funds etc. now. If they do then let the victims work it out without being under the threat of having the funds withdrawn later, if the contributer doesn't like the outcome.
To me this also opens the door for more fund raisers and/or donations later when a project is decided upon.

Kevin, I think it's only right to ask permission of the contributors to use the money they doanted to do something other than what they originally donated it for. That's what we are trying to do, is get permission NOW, before starting anything, so that there will be no future "withdrawal" of the funds. I can't say that all of those who donated are still following this thread, and just don't think a blanket statement HERE of "Tell me now if you don't want your money used in this manner" would be adequate.

And Bill, I think it was you that mentioned a dollar figure a few posts back. Just so everyone knows, JUST with the list I have with all of the amounts people paid for their "hets", the figure adds up to over $23,000. I have names of a few more folks that could be added to that list, but do not yet have specific dollar amounts.......I believe the amounts from the people who sent money and received nothing was well over the $20,000 mark as well, but I don't have that list handy yet.......

Cat,
I am not privy to the loop of information that is communicated between victims and donors. I have no right nor desire to be. It was mentioned earlier by a poster that the "buyers" in the charity auctions do not rate a voice, as they received something, and to that entity, I would disagree. People come forward to purchase in a charity auction for items they might not have otherwise purchased, or at a price higher than they would have otherwise paid, in this case the "nail Chris fund", or however it was portrayed. Now, if y'all work something out between all involved, I have no quibble with that. While not an insider, does anyone have confirmation from the investigator that there will not be a criminal prosecution ? If that is still a possibility, IMO to now divert these funds from a possible civil coattail to that possibility is a mistake. To all the "victims" who contributed, you may be best served by just getting your contributions to the fund back. Use it as you feel will best ease your pain. Without listing all those victims who would essentially not benefit from a pooled solution anyway, as someone(s) will be left out of the "solution", I think you are taking an unfortunate situation, the possibility of not being able to use it to help dig Chris's grave, and making it worse, a possible and likely "fiasco" as Rich described. All just IMO. BTW, real beauty AND real ugliness start at the bone :)

Being part of what is going on, I don't understand where people are getting the idea that this who thing is a secret society, A pass word is needed to post on it,( only if you have something vested) It is also my understanding that people who are not granted access could be able to read it, So where is the problem with any of this, OK now take step back and ask yourself if this was you, would you not want people to come to your aid, and try to help you recover something ? It was mentioned that this is using the BOI for new business venture, I don't see it that way, I see as investing money that was collected, To help those that lost an estimated $ 20,000 to this piece of stinking awful.

I do not believe this is correct. My understanding of the way the password protected forums work is that NO ONE will be able to access it, even to read the posts, without having the password. Having never tried it before (not having a reason to try), I am not 100 percent positive about this.

The only way I can think of to do it that way is via setting up a special member group, which would be a whole completely different (and more complicated) kettle of fish.

There you go I stand corrected,I guess, I got confused on how this was being done. Thank you for clearing that up.

We were also offered the use of a forum created on a different site by Jim O, where we could possibly set it up that way there. To date, I really have not received much feedback on this either way except for what has been already posted here. I'd like to get more feedback from those who are involved before setting anything up either way.

So, if you're one of the folks ripped off by Chris, or one that donated....now is the time to voice your opinion. Remember, the new email address for this is [email protected] .

Cat, have you heard anything back from Bob about the contributors list? I treid to contact him a few days ago but I haven't heard back from him.

I'd like to keep it here.

Excellent point, Derek, I have in fact been contacted by one of those members. I'm thinking for the sake of including all involved, and for peace of mind for Rich, it may be better to move this off-site.

I did get a brief PM from Bob England a couple of days ago. He did have a concern for the contributors who had asked to remain anonymous, and I did explain to him that it would be their choice whether or not to be involved, and why we needed to contact them. I have not received an answer as of yet.

Well I think really it up to who ever is setting this up to decide where to put this whole thing, If it's to be moved of Fauna....well then so be it, I personally have no problem with where it goes, Just as long as it goes some where

While I do understand that people want to remain anonymous,Who is going to be the guardian over their Donation ?? Lets just say there are 100 people who donated and say 5 of them aren't anonymous and say go for what you have in mind what about the other 95 ???? The way I'm seeing this is it has to be an all or nothing for this to work. Am I right or wrong here ?

Um, I'm not sure exactly what you're asking here, lol....but I will try to answer. :D

Bob obviously knows who all of the donors are. Their names never have to be brought into view of anyone but the person who contacts them and gets the OK or not OK to use their donation for the recuperation committee. From there they are given the choice to participate or not participate in the rest of the deal, if they choose to let the money remain in the fund. If they still want to remain completely anonymous it is their option. Anyone who does not want their money used in this manner can have their donation returned.

Did that help any? LOL.

If I understand this correctly, the intent is to set up a breeding project to bring relief to those who were ripped off. If that is the case, how do you fairly decide who gets male, female, visual, het etc.? There may be potential for more issues than you could anticipate.

It has been brought to my attention that some of those involved could be banned from Fauna. If we were to keep it here how could we accomodate them?
Are you saying that "they have already been banned"?? I guess I'm at a loss as to why they would be banned as long as they follow the rules here??

Yes, they are already banned but I feel that they should still able to participate.

This could be a coincidence, maybe not. I don't know how to do a screenshot so I just copy pasted the text on the page. But this user has the same last name as Chris, is from NY, is a similar age, the join date is mid June, when this thread was new, and he is watching this thread a lot.

Just struck me as awfully coincidental.

David,
If it is Chris, take your pick of "so what" or "good catch". If its not Chris, maybe there's nothig to be gained as an internet detective here. To the extent that Chris can view here in anonymity any time he chooses, providing he has internet access, so what ? I thought he stopped calling the shots in the Spring :shrug01:

I am one that is mildly disappointed with the enthusiasm by which many of the "victims" are so ready to turn the "nail Chris" fund into a "compensate me" fund .... but its not my money anyway. To those salivating over the "compensation", you are guaranteeing the demise of any such fund in the future. Me me me me me.
