Very sick G. pardalis with "Runny Nose Syndrome"

My friend has a 32 gram hatchling G. pardalis, which has come down with an upper respiritory infection, with a runny nose, and weezing. He took her to a "herp vet" in Lower Richland Hills, TX, and the vet knew less than he did about tortoises. All he did was prescribe baytril in a very large syringe, without dosage instructions. The tortoise so far was treated by dripping a couple of drop of the baytril onto the nostrils, and since then, the tortoise has almost compltely stopped moving.

Is this a reaction to the baytril?

If so, should amikacin be used, and if so, how much?

Hi,

you might want to take a look at this:

http://www.tortoisetrust.org/article...ml#Respiratory

It came from The Tortoise Trust. Just scroll down the page to "Respiratory disease" under the "Introduction".

Make sure that you keep him very clean, very warm, and very dry. I wish the best for you and your tort.
