breakdown
my females vent

i just got a new female boa (my first) and her vent area is red and swollen and it looks like red fleshy material sticking out a bit, should i be worried and if so how do i fix it?

Without seeing it, it sounds as if she could have a prolapse....which probably means she should be seen by a vet. Are you able to post pics?

I know that when I got one of my ball pythons her vent was the same way when I picked her up to look at her. And then she pooped on me, and then she was fine. Hope that helps you.

yeah i should be able to get some photos on here. but how dangerous is a prolapse im fairly new to looking after snakes so i have no idea.[
