    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I hate to say it but it looks as though Jody is going to loss his money on this deal. I did not want to draw any conclusions until both sides were presented here, but after reading what Ed had to say (not much of anything that hasn't already been said), not good. Jody stood up for the calls and getting angry, now we need to go on to step #2, where is the $700.00 money order?? There is no room in this hobby for a thief, lets hear the rest of this story Ed.

I don't know what you are talking about my son for. I don't have any plans of suing about the fact that my son was killed. I think my family will tell you how much love we have show to my father-in-law since the accident. But how dare you bring up an innocent 4 year old when you fucked up. My son is a hero, and if you don't believe me, ask the four families that were recipeints of his organs.

As for you being a sack of crap thief there is nothing that can be said for that. I have a statute of limitations of 2 years to file the case. I will do so after the holidays and the anniversary of my son's death in January. My family needs me to be here for them more than I need to be there until this short time period is over.

I suggest you never make mention of my son again. You are treading on thin ice already. That situation is none of your business.

He is so scared of me that he had to get a restraining order agianst me and I live 500 miles from him. He knows how I handle things. I will see him in person once again.

I'm really sorry about your son. No father should have to endure something like that. I hope that you are able to find find some degree of peace in the coming weeks as you approach the anniversary of your sons death. I am sure that it will be a very difficult time for you and your family.

I have to ask one thing of you though, please be careful how you post. Angry tirades, and veiled threats are not tolerated on this site, and while I know that you were probably very angry when you made that last post, I am asking that you please think twice before you hit the submit button.

While there is undeniably quite a plot running here I still would like to see a post from Ed Braaten adressing the allegation that he failed to send Jody Barnes an owed payment of $700. What I have seen so far brings to mind a case where a man riding a miniature motorcycle claimed to have issued a money order but didn't know what happened to it and therefore it was just too bad for the person that he owed.

I think there are two chances of that happening. Slim and none, and slim aint lookin' too good.

I made a mistake with the phone calls, and now he thinks the phone calls excuse him from paying for the snake. My biggest fear at this point is that the IRS is going to clean him out before I get him in court to get my animal or money back. I am asking the court to award me the snake, as a judgement in my favor would take a back seat to the back taxes that he owes Uncle Sam.

My offer still stands. If you ship the snake back, I will pay for the shipping and post on here that you have made good on the deal. The shipping must be done collect, or a receipt included in the box as I will not take a chance on sending you money in return for something because of your previous actions. I will pay with a postal money order and ship it with delivery confirmation requested in order to have undisputed proof that I have paid you as promised. That way, if I do not hold up my end of the deal then I will have to answer for it on the BOI. Furthermore, the snake must be packed in a styrofoam lined box inside a snake bag with a 40 hour heat pack due to low temperatures this time of year. These packing instructions are clear and expected to be followed. I do not want the animal shipped in an unlined box, packaged in a chinese food take-out container and wrapped in a towel because survival this time of year with the current temperatures would not be possible. A used shipping box could be found at your local pet store that sells fish or reptiles, or maybe another person in you area would give or sell you one for very cheap.

You pretty much made my point for me. Take legal action, follow through with it, and get your money back. The way you chose to act, well, maybe it would have been in everyone's best interest if the law would have caught up with you.
 
Jody, you went wrong on two accounts here. Not saying you shouldn't have traveled to the guys house, because I'm guilty of doing just such a thing myself. But you should have called the Sheriff first, as an escort and witness to the entire thing. This would have covered your butt. Being a cop at one time, seems you woulda thought about that one.

Second place you went wrong is filing the civil suite in Texas. If you are going to take someone to court for a law suite, you need to take them to court in the state they have monetary value in. If you had succeeded in getting him to a court in Texas, and he proved he had no valuable assets in Texas, the ruling would have been $0, and zero snakes almost guaranteed. You need to initiate the suite in the state he resides, works, banks, etc.

And here we go again. Jody. David made the same observation that I and a number of other folks have made. Your behaviour, both at Ed's and on this site, have made you look dangerously unstable and somewhat psychotic. Every time someone points that out you lose your mind again and start ranting. All that does is validate what was said about you.

You need to learn the difference between an observation based on evidence and an insult. No one has insulted you here. They have simply made observations, albeit somewhat blunt and unforgiving ones, based on your actions.

As I stated before after that delightful and profane Email you sent me a couple of weeks ago, seek help. Anger management would be a great start.
 
That said, it would be nice to hear a straight answer from Ed on the $700. Jody being a few cents short of a dollar does not in any way excuse the debt.

Ed has been here in the last few days too. Apparently, he has nothing to say. That silence is speaking volumes ED.

I can show you cell phone records where I contacted the Sheriff's Office a week before I went to Ed's house. I was told it was a civil matter and that if I wanted anything done about it, that I would have to take care of it myself. The Sheriff's Office refused to assist me before any of the other events took place, including the phone calls I made to Ed.
 
Did you specifically ask for an escort? I just went through something similar in AZ in '06. It's sorta hard to believe they refused you an escort, especially coming in from out of town. Most any law enforcement agency will do it, rather than deal with a potential bad situation. It's their JOB after all.
