1000 crickets in 15 gallon tank? or 750?

Im sure i can fit 500 in there but would rather order more for the cheaper price. Can 1000 live in a 15 gallon tank? If i get 750 that blows the economical price but i wouldnt have to order as often.

That's something I never thought about, there are 40 gallon tanks on craigslist for $20 all the time, maybe think about that. Can 1000 live in a 40?

They would live in a 15 gal. that was set up correctly (I assume you mean large crix) Several layers of newspaper on the bottom plenty of egg crate to crawl on (screen top so they can't jump off the egg crate and escape), a good water supply (not gel) and good food. I can keep 2000 in a 60qt Sterilite tub (about $10 at Target)

I currently use 3/4" but will be going to large in a few months. Why is water gel bad?

Crickets need lots of fresh water, the gel is fine for a few dozen or so, but for 1000 you realy need a water device that provides unlimited fresh water at all times. I use a modified chicken waterer, about 32oz with a perforated ring in the water tray to keep them from drowning. You can also use a sponge or cotton.
