Whether or not one agrees with the concept, the actual current federal enrollment efforts are abysmal.
I tried to check it out. And tried. And tried. Half the time the system was down. When I actually got through, and registered and then tried to check out what was available, my registration was not recognized enough to see options, but was recognized enough that I could not re-register online.
I called their customer service line, and was told that the online enrollment process had glitches. Well, duh.

So I guess I will be charitable and tell myself to try again in another month or two (I've had a dozen failed attempts) because any large new system IS going to have some glitches.
But there's a little voice inside me that is saying that if I try again in 30 days, it's gonna be the same-o, same-o.
We'll see.......

I haven't even tried it yet...I am not looking forward to it so I'm putting it off as long as possible. It looks like between myself and my fiance, our insurance costs will be about double what we have been paying, according to the estimates I have seen.

I have been trying some more, have made about 30 contacts. Now I have to mail them a copy of my driver's license because they can't confirm my identity, despite the fact that the federal government has managed to know exactly where I am for decades when it is income tax time.

I totally feel sorry for all the customer contact people they hired, who are not responsible for the computer glitches and communication failures between the marketplace and the confirmation crew, but who get to field all the questions, anxieties and upsets of those trying to enroll.

Whether that means there are 4 separate assignments, or they posted it 4 times to make sure I got the message, I'm expecting aggravation this weekend when I sit down to a computer at work.

My next door neighbor said she signed up Tuesday and she got right in. Bronze plan for $470/month. She said before she went with out insurance because of spine issue that made it almost $1800.00 a month. My father in law said it took until Thursday to do it. My mother in law has genetic eye problems and no insurance. Not hearing a whole lot local about problems. This is in Ohio.
