New Here, salamander identification question (pic)

Hey everyone,

I joined the site because I am interested in nature and wildlife in general. Also, I found a salamander in my garden and was curious about verifying the species. I think it is most likely the 4-toed salamander because the salamander I caught did have 4 toes! I'm also interested to know how it got into the rock bed in my garden. I live in central NJ in a suburb and there is no nearby waterbodies. The closest creek is prob an 1/8 mile away or a little more over an uneven landscape. It has been really wet for the past month so it is not implausible that the salamander made its way over the distance, but who knows if it came from that creek anyway. I don't know of any standing or seasonal pools either unless there is serious flooding. I have attached a pic what do you guys think? The other thing is the rocks I found him walking through is home to colonies of pill bugs and other insects so I'm sure he is doing well as far as food source goes. I did let him go after I snapped a few pics.

Gulcher
that would be a slimy salamander (P. glutinosus). They are relatively easy to care for.

That is the "leadback" phase of the red back salamander, plethodon cinereus.
