Good luck switching over to rats, and I mean that. I got two pair, one pair het pieds and one pair het albino, almost a year ago from a lady who didn't want to hastle switching over to rats. The two males switched to rats fairly soon. But they still have not taken f/t. The female het albino took a rat for the first time last week. The other is still on mice but has gone to p/k. I got a pinstripe that went to rats with no problem but my spider still insists on mice. But with nine animals I'm pleased with my progress.
The female albino that just switched did so after I offered her a p/k rat that I let wander around in soiled mouse bedding for most of the day then offered it to her. Swithching to rats can be tricky but with patience and persistance it should work for you. What drives me crazy are the ones that deside, for what ever reason, they don't want to eat at all. I have a female that went off food last year for almost seven months before she started eating again. It about drove me nuts. She had been eating f/t rats like a machine. Then after the winter cool down she just would not eat at all. Finally decided to give her a live rat. She took it and went right back f/t with the next feeding. This year she is pulling the same trick. I'm not as crazy this year as last becuse I am thinking this is just her nature. It is somothing that makes me think I should have gone with another species but I just love ball pythons so much I will put up with the hastles to get the morphs I really want. I have wanted a pied since I first saw one. I know that I have mentioned several morphs that have nothing to do with pieds but these animals are just so addictive I could not help myself. Any one else feel the same ...............rhetorical question.
