When we have replies such as the last two in this thread -> http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...d.php?t=732205 where do we draw the line?

Limit replies to only those persons with direct experience with the author of the thread? Might be a nightmare to enforce. But do we really want people making statements such as "He is charging too much!" , "He is charging too little!", "He didn't answer my questions to my satisfaction!", "Wah, wah WAH!!"

So much can be gray area concerning what is personally derogatory versus legitimate claims about manner of doing business, and less than satisfactory conclusion of a transaction.

I'll tell you, I am getting the feeling that this might be another one of my bad ideas coming around the bend.

With an attitude like that the OP deserves every negative comment to keep away potential victims.

IMO those could be covered under the "Disruptive posting in classified ad" infraction. Also if the OP really wanted to he could just delete the ad since it looks like the critters he had up for sale are no longer available.

It'll take a while, especially if the goal is to keep the signal-to-noise ratio high, but we can certainly encourage quality feedback while discouraging shitposting.

Obviously "attitude" is going to be in the eye of the beholder in many instances.

Implement a radio button response only. Select an option that relates to seller or buyer.

Seller was honest to deal with
Seller was difficult
Seller took money but no delivery

Buyer was easy customer
Buyer wasted my time
Buyer rescinded payment

No back and forth. No discussion. Sure you can't defend yourself but if you have 10 people saying you were easy to deal with and only one complaint then it makes it easier to make a decision on working with someone.

That would mean custom programming with basically one or more polls forcibly attached to each and every ad thread. Sorry, but that would likely be complicated coding needed. But I will run it by my programmer to see what he thinks about the complexity involved. It complicates things because a lot of this site is run from embedded templates that are duplicated in multiple instances throughout the site.

And it would also mean disabling the possibility for anyone to reply to all of the classified ads, otherwise we would be right back where we started with people ignoring the poll(s) and posting their experiences and/or opinions.

But thanks for weighing in with a suggestion.

That also doesn't allow for things like posting news articles about sellers convicted of smuggling or theft.

Couldn't the "Police Blotter" section be used for those types of articles, or is the objective to keep all relevant info in one thread?

I was going to suggest something similar to what JColt stated; a sort of ebay-type rating system.

I'm also available for any "busy work", or mod duties if needed. I'm no longer working, and have extra time on my hands.

The idea is to keep the feedback on the seller's ad(s), not scattered throughout the rest of the site. Also not all shenanigans are newsworthy.

To Stop the scammers in the US and you’re not familiar with the person you’re buying from you should request that they send a shipment COD UPS and FedEx have that option! Other than that I would have everyone registered with Faunaclassifieds to provide proof of identity like drivers license to weed out scammers!
