I have a baby kenyan sand boa and for the longest time she wouldn't eat, she went 3 months without eating. I tried all the things where you put them in a bag or a deli cup and leave them over night, never worked for me. Well a friend showed me this video, so I tired it and it worked like a charm the first time, ever since then Ive been doing it this way and shes eating me out of house and home.

HE ATE! FINALLY! TWICE! :( I wasn't about to tell you guys until I was sure this wasn't a fluke! )

I have no idea why he just suddenly started eating but he has downed 2 fuzzies in 3 weeks. He's still in the spare bedroom where its quiet and he's gonna stay there! I left the thawed fuzzy on his shedding rock before I went to bed and in the morning, it was gone. ( Kinda felt like I was leaving a sacrificial offering to the monster terrorizing the local village! But hey, it worked! )

I was starting to consider buying him a gal pal, which I may still do, but I'm not set up for eggs or babies. I'm getting really strapped for space for more snakes. I SOOOO need a cheap starter rack! Well, the Mars show is coming.

I can't believe he went for that long without eating and still looks healthy!

Something small and cheap. I have an old, small, house with very little storage space and my hubby's a pack-rat! Something adequate for housing babies and sand boa sized snakes. That in a nut-shell is it.

( Oh! And permission from hubby to bring more snakes into the house!

well i know this is a lil late.. i have a breeding pair of saharans and they are btoh wild caught but bout 6 years old all captives but for me they only eat maybe 6 months out of the year.. they have a weird hibernation cycle that just completly shuts them down.. cant do anything about it.. there isnt to many captive bred saharans out there and nobody has been able to work out all the kinks on them.. but it will happen soon.

Your advice may be late but its still welcomed. The saharan seems to be a sporadic eater at best. I've been advised that getting him a gal pal may shake him up enough to start eating but now that I'm tempted to try that, I can't find any female saharans at the shows I go to.

Nice to know that that can survive that long without eating. But I still feel like a bad parent who doesn't have a clue! My other snakes RARELY refuse a meal. Now I see why people tear their hair out about non-feeders!

Sand boas, or boas in general for that matter, dont lay eggs. They have live birth, lol.

Saharans lay eggs, kenyans give birth. So that's why I said "eggs OR babies".
