Need to know more info on this morph??? I was wondering if it was started with cal. kings or is a cross from an eastern or a florida to start it off.

i'm not 100% on this, but i'm pretty sure it was pioneered at the gourmet rodent and is a co-dom trait.

Just would like to know if it was started by crossing a florida or eastern king to a california king to start the california mosaics.

no info on them at that site. Looked with no questions answered. I already knew they are a co-dom trait just trying to look up if they were originated from crossing.

try emailing them. they'll probably have more information on their origin than many on this site.

will do, the thing that threw about this whole thing is the fact that so much info is on the florida and eastern mosaic, but no cal. king mosaic info.

Ok, according to Andy, the Gourmet Rodent does not have mosaic cal kings. They do have the mosaic Florida and Chain kings. The chain kings originated from Kevin Enge. But the Rodent pioneered the Florida kings. He wasnt sure who did the mosaic cal kings though. Hope that helps a little bit

As far as I am aware, the Mosaic Cal King is not related to the Mosaic Florida King. I'm not so sure it's really a co-dom trait, however. Perhaps some lines may be, but the ones I have don't seem to be.

I only get one or two Mosaics from both of my Mosaic female's eggs combined each year. I do get the usual somewhat unpredictable variability that ranges from the patterns of each parent. I will be breeding a Mosaic to a Mosaic in 2012, so we shall see if I get a clutch of "super" forms... though I doubt it.

Regardless, this pattern variation is one of my favorites, and one you don't see really good examples of too often.

As far as their origin, I'm at a loss. I really don't know who started breeding for the pattern.
