Queen Snake

Found this guy sunning himself on a branch while I was fishing. I was pretty nervous about my camera considering to take the picture I had to wade out about 3 feet into knee deep water on large irregular rocks. It was worth it though!

Neat pics! How big was he? I've taken my camera out in the swamps when I'm doing frog surveys and I'm always afraid that I'm going to slip and dunk it Have you ever tried to keep these? I've heard that they only feed on freshly molted crayfish making captive maintenance very difficult.

He was about 2.5 feet long, and no i've never kept one, but I've read the same thing about their diet. They're one of my favorites because they can be a challenge to get do as they are water snakes and they are relatively docile, especially when compared to the likes of N. sipedon
