Boaphile Plastic cages,

Was hoping for some opinion's if you have this kind of cage, what do you like/ dislike? I was eyeing one for maybe next year <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'> spam_ Y.D.

I've got the racks and I love em

Hey Nicole, How is the heating on the rack? &nbsp;I understand that Jeff uses a lower wattage 11&quot; flexwatt that is sandwiched in between two pieces of plastic that are glued together. &nbsp; Does it get hot enough? &nbsp;How hot does it get if you plug it in direct without a rheostat/thermostat to keep temps low. &nbsp;How hard would it be to rip the back off to replace the heat tape if for some reason it shorted out or developed cold spots? &nbsp; I would love to be able to throw out all of my current racks and go with light weight plastic ones, but the cost to replace everything is sending chills down my back so I want to make real sure that these are what I want. &nbsp;

There's a decent enough gap in the back to allow for good airflow, to help cut down on the chance of a short. It looks like it would be easy to replace, but should the need arise, I would definitely contact Jeff first for a few tips on removing and putting the back on. I have my leos and corns in right now, with the heat on a rheostat and it works just fine. Directly plugged in it got a bit too warm, but thats because my reptile room was about 73 to begin with...come winter it should be just fine.

Those are good questions! &nbsp;It is possible to replace the heat tape on these enclosures, but it is an absolute chore that would involve talking to Jeff on the phone and him telling you exactly where to cut. &nbsp;We really don't think this will ever become a big issue. &nbsp;

We do suggest using a boaphile rack with either a Rheostat or Thermostat as the temperatures that the tape reaches may be too hot for most reptiles. &nbsp;We use the lower wattage heat tape to hopefully avoid tragedies, but it is far safer with a thermostat.
