Advice Breeding Anoles

Hi everyone,

I'd like to thank anyone who posts any helpful advice in advance! I'm contemplating breeding anoles, but I’ve read and heard a lot of mixed thoughts from different websites and individuals.

Caging : 20 gallon tank
Substrate : Coconut Fiber w/ Moss
(2) Basking Sites : Drift Wood/ Branches
Plants : Live plants (Philodendron, Pothos)
Heat : Ceramic Heater
Lighting : Fluorescent bulb
Humidity control : Humidifier on T-Stat or spray tank twice daily, haven’t decided.
Air Flow : (2) PC fans; (1) fan to exhaust and (1) fan for air intake.
Food : Crickets, roaches, meal supplement
Male to Female Ratio : 2 males & 3 females

Incubation : Haven’t really looked into this yet… but I’m thinking when it comes to catching the little guys it would be best to incubate them in an incubator (homemade or purchased incubator) and not leave them in the breeding tank to hatch. Thoughts?

With regards to the feeding the anoles, would anyone recommend breeding the roaches vs. buying from a local pet store. Basically would it save any cost or not worth in the investment of time and money for this small of an anole project. I’m thinking at a max I will have (2) tanks for breeding anoles = 4 males and 6 females (unless recommending a different ratio than 2 males & 3 females per tank). I heard roaches are easier and don’t smell as bad as breeding crickets... Any thoughts!?

Please if you have any suggestions or disagree with anything stated above I would greatly appreciate your advice.
Thank you,
Kyle
