HI ALL!

I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT ALL THE HUB-BUB ABOUT REPTILES BEING BANNED, COMPARATIVES TO STATISTICS ON
DOG RELATED DEATHS AND INJURIES ETC.... AND SOMETHING
CAME TO MIND.
IN THE U.S. THE 3 LARGEST BRED AND SOLD ANIMALS WOULD
HAVE TO BE CATS, DOGS, AND REPTILES.  THE CROWD THAT
THE AKC CHAMPIONSHIPPS GATHER DOESNT EVEN COME CLOSE TO DAYTONAS CROWD NUMBERS. WE TEND TO BREED
FOR FAVORABLE TRAITS OF BEAUTY JUST LIKE IN CANINE AND FELINE BREEDING ETC...
MY MAIN THOUGHT WAS ABOUT THE SHOWS THOUGH. DOG AND CAT SHOWS DO SELL, BUT THE BIG ATTRACTION IS THE "CONTEST".  WHO IN THE HERP WORLD WOULD BE INTERRESTED IN A CONTEST SIMILAR TO THE "DOG SHOWS"
FOR REPTILES.
PERSONALLY I THINK IT WOULD BE GREAT AT SOME OF THE
LARGER SHOWS TO SEE WHO HAS THE "BEST JCP" OR HYBRID
OR REDDEST REDBLOOD ETC....
WE COULD CALL IT THE ARC CHAMPIONSHIP AT DAYTONA
(AMERICAN REPTILE ASSOCIATION) AND ALL THE ENTRIES AT
DAYTONA WOULD HAVE TO BE WINNERS FROM OTHER SHOWS
FROM THE PAST 12 MONTHS.  IMAGINE GETTING A BABY FROM
THE ARC CHAMPION JCP "SIR AURTHORS GRACE" OR SOMETHING CORNY LIKE THAT.
I DONT KNOW IT MAY JUST BE ME. I GREW UP WITH MY MOTHER SHOWING COLLIES THOUGH AND THERE IS A GOOD AMOUNT OF EXCITEMENT AND ANTICIPATION AT THE DOG SHOWS TO SEE WHO WINS, JUST THOUGHT IT WOULD BE
SWEET TO SEE THE SAME AT A REPTILE SHOW. <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

GOD BLESS TO ALL!

HI

I JUST RE-READ THAT AND THAT WOULD BE THE &quot;ARA&quot;
(AMERICAN REPTILE ASSOCIATION) NOT ARC.

OOOPS

GOD BLESS!

HI YA'LL

I'M GLAD I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO LIKED THE IDEA.
HOWEVER; I HAVENT A CLUE AS HOW TO START SOMETHING
LIKE THAT! &nbsp;I WOULD IMAGINE THE U.S. WOULD HAVE TO BE DEVIDED INTO 4 OR SIX &quot;ZONES&quot; THEN SAY THE LARGEST SHOW IN THAT ZONE WOULD BE WHERE THE COMPETITION
WOULD BE HELD. THEN ALL THE WINNERS OF THOSE ZONES
WOULD BE ABLE TO COMPETE AT DAYTONA. HOWEVER SOME
PEOPLE WOULDNT BE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO DAYTONA FOR THE
SHOW SO SOMETHING WOULD HAVE TO BE WORKED OUT TO
FILL THE SPOTS OR SOMETHING. ALSO THE JUDGES WOULD
HAVE TO BE PICKED OUT. I WOULD THINK IT WOULD BE BETTER TO HAVE THE TOP PEOPLE (BOB CLARK, NERD, SUTHERLANDS ETC..) JUDGE BUT NOT BE ELEGIBLE TO ENTER.
WE ALL KNOW THEIR QUALITY ETC... ANYWAY AND I DONT THINK IT WOULD BE FAIR FOR NERD TO ENTER THE BALL MORPH CATAGORY AND WIN EVERY YEAR FOR THE NEXT 20 YEARS. ALSO THEY ARE FOR SURE TO BE AT DAYTONA.
I WOULD THINK THE CATAGORIES WOULD RUN ABOUT LIKE CANINES DO. YOU COULD HAVE THE SUB-CATAGORIES (KINGS,CORNS,MILKS -REDTAILS, ANACONDAS, ETB, ATB-BALLS, BLOODS, CARPETS, RETICS, BURMS AND SO ON AND SO FORTH.) THEN THE WINNERS OF THOSE CATAGORIES WOULD COMPETE FOR THE &quot;BEST COLUBRID&quot; , &quot;BEST BOA&quot;, &quot;BEST PYTHON&quot; ETC.. THEN THE WINNERS OF THOSE
WOULD COMPETE FOR THE &quot;BEST IN SHOW&quot;, THE TOP DOG OF THE &nbsp;YEAR, THE CREAM OF THE CROP YADAYADAYADA...
IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO GET SOMETHING LIKE THIS ROLLING JUST POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION AND WE'LL GIVE IT A SHOT!
I'M SURE IF WE STARTED A TYPE OF &quot;PETITION&quot; OR &quot;LIST&quot; OF
PEOPLE SUPPORTING THIS IDEA IT WOULD HELP ALSO. INSTEAD OF JUST A FEW OF US SPEAKING OUR MINDS, WE MIGHT BE HEARD ALOT LOUDER IF WE HAD A LIST OF
A THOUSAND PEOPLE SUPPORTING TO GO WITH IT!

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, DONT FORGET THAT ANYTHING IS
POSSIBLE THROUGH GOD.

MAY GOD BLESS US ALL!

Great idea,i have also wondered why there has not been shows for reptiles,i use to breed and show Rottweilers and enjoyed the shows very much,i bet reptile shows would be alot funner and less competative, and a hell of alot of less &quot;snootier&quot; people, lol

It's really funny that you guys brought this up because I just found out that for the longest time my mom assumed that that was what I was talking about when I told her I was going to a reptile show. &nbsp; She thought it was just like a dog show.

Ben,

You grew up with your mother showing Collies. Start right there. Do you still know anyone in the dog show areans? ASk questions. Get as much info as possible of the whos whats and hows. If the dog show community is naything like the herpers, they would be more than happy to offer the info.

Oh, and don't forget about all of the licenses and legal stuff too! The governmetn tends to frown on us herpers. All sorts of laws and local ordinances have been passed to prevent us from keeping our animals. I lived in Philly and you cannot keep large snakes legally. &nbsp; But this is a discussion better suited for another post.

Anyway, i spend a lot of time online researching stuff. If you wuld like some help, let me know.

Jim
