surprise

Nice surprise in my yard today, last fall I put quite a few Chinese mantid sacs around the house, in the tort pen, the garden , well...on and on.
So here I am sitting on my porch and I feel this thing on my shoulder [resisting the urge to smack it {learned this years ago}] I looked and to my surprise there is a baby mantid right on my shoulder, friggin cool man.
On further inspection of the yard , house, tort pen, well..on and on...they are everywhere.
Little half inch mantids everywhere. Luckilly the roses have aphids
Spring is here and man is it great

Wow! How cool. I am envious.
I have never even considered doing this in Montana because our winters are so severe. Still, can our winters be so much worse than yours?

pretty close to the same , our winters up here can get to 20 below actual temp. Last winter the coldest was around 10 below.The mantid sacs can survive some harsh stuff.
heck they survive the Wisconsin winters with no problem and the winters are harsher there than here

We had two weeks in the negative 30's. Negative 20's is normal and to be expected. I could give it a try. Where do you get them?
