If corn snakes are legal where you live it's hard to go wrong with one of those.

California kings are good.

Captive bred, not captive hatched, ball pythons

Those are three of the easiest and most inexpensive snakes to get into that are fairly hardy and good for first timers.

Try alex hue reptiles or serpenco.com. Serpenco will only have the corns, alex will have everything.

good luck

Ball Pythons

Not sure about size, because mine didnt get full grown, but it was no bigger than 3'2", and i had mine for 4 yrs. They are a great beginner snake, and they normally don't bite, they will eat live mice at about the age of 4 months. They are nice beautiful snakes , and they are very tame, they need about a tank 20 gal. for a snake around 12 in., from there on you do the math, but don't buy this snake and cut him short. Snakes need full care and responsibility put towards them. I wouldnt buy a snake that you wont have the correct lighting, food, space, substrate for. They sell anywhere from $45-$90 (at about 9 in.).First I would buy a book, then buy all equipment that you need, and then buy the snake last. Good luck with your snake, and please write back if you have any questions.
