As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Gasoline price increase panic
Friggin people have gone berserk. All the gas stations around here have LONG lines from people trying to get their gas tanks filled up before the price skyrockets from hurricane Ike shutting down the refineries in Texas. There have been auto accidents and the police have been dispatched to try to keep some order so more incidents won't happen.
Friggin idiots. Big deal if the price of gasoline goes up even $2 more per gallon temporarily! Let's say the average car has a gas tank of 20 gallons and the price spike will last for 1 month. In that month's time you have to fill up 4 times, once per week, to do what you need to do. In order to save $160 people have gone berserk, causing an even WORSE panic by draining the current supply of gasoline at the gas stations, and probably put critical services that might need gasoline to function in dire jeopardy. So if your house burns down because the fire trucks are out of gasoline and can't get to you, or your spouse dies because a medical emergency cannot be accommodated because the ambulance is out of gas and no more can be found, was that $160 EXTRA that you might have had to spend really worth it?
God help this country if a REAL nationwide emergency takes place...... :headbang:

So weird how we dont feel it up here.
all that chaos Sounds like the gas shortages way back when. Had to stand out at the pumps with a gun, and pick an odd or even number on a plate for any given day, and anyone with that number ( odd or even), would be allowed to get gas, while the others had to wait until the next day or so.
Dunno why.... I suppose because we are so far north, and so far out of the hurricanes reach. we just wont feel it yet. We will once the prices go up a little more on the market though. We havent moved for a few days, and were on a steady decline down.
Another couple weeks i dont doubt and the board will reflect the increase.
Right now were at 3.699 ( i work at a Family owned Mobil Station)

gas shot up .50 cents a gallon at half the stations in town today. All the stations with gas for $3.50 to $3.60 had LONG lines running into the street. The ones at $4 a gallon were pretty much empty. I needed gas~ did the math and figured that 0.50 cents a gallon difference on the 9 to 10 gallons of gas I needed for the little car I was driving was $4.50 to $5.00..........
I wasn't fighting that crowd for $5.......
I got gas at the empty station!

Many stations here are out of gas at any price. It wouldn't matter, at this point it is way too dangerous to get out on the roads. And Ike has not even made landfall.

I've got a pal in SC that says his local gas stations are rationing gas. Limiting it to 10 gallons per purchase.
It's the same way folks around here buy up all the toilet paper and milk along with sidewalk salt before a big snowstorm is supposed to hit. It's like it's the end of the damn world.

And that is EXACTLY the opposite from what they should do, in my opinion. Such a policy MAKES people stop into the gas stations more often, which leads to long lines as everyone tries to top off their gas tanks as often as possible. What SHOULD be done is to basically have a $50 MINIMUM. Anyone wanting to top off their tank and only get five gallons would still have to pay that $50. If they are willing to pay $10 per gallon, then have at it. That way the lines would evaporate and the panic driven tank topping off would cease immediately.

Gas was $3.59 - 3.79 as of 8am today when I took my dad to the doctor. When we left town at 2:30 pm it went up to $3.99 - 4.59 and the lines were just starting. We ran a few errands before going home and the Missus said their was panic in town and Gas Stations were out of gas.
Its amazing how fast that took off , it was only 4 hours from the time we gassed up ( we were on empty ) and got home.
