Shipping help needed!

Hi,

I am trying to sell a snake of mine and I have a buyer. I have never shipped(buyer knows this) and We have been trying to find out how I could do it. Fedex said they wont ship pets, because I am not a Buisness they told me no. I can't get a hold of any other pet shipping places, and No pet stores will ship. Is there anyone close to Plymouth/Canton Michigan That would be able to help me ship a 4ft corn to main. Buyer will pay shipping, and Any additional fee you might require for helping us out, assuming it isn't to much. If you are interested in giving me a hand that would be greatly appreciated. You have three options...

1) Locate someone in your area who is already certified to ship via FedEx
2) Become FedEx certified [http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...d.php?t=33533]
3) Ship under the radar and don't tell them what you're shipping

If you plan on shipping live harmless reptiles fairly frequently, you should just go ahead and take care of #2.

Thanks for the reply, My problem with Fedex is i started doing all those steps and they said they wouldnt let me ship because i was not a buisness, and this was a one time ship. this is why i posted a thread to see if anyone near by would give me a hand that may be certified. I dont think that i would ship without letting them know, Because I wouldnt want them throwing the box or being reckless with it.

The buyer does know this all may not work and he is ok with this, he came into the situation knowing I may not be able to ship, but we are trying al we can to get the snake to him. I only own 4 snakes now, and this is the only one I plan to sell.

It really doesn't matter what's in the box or if they know what is in the box because they are no more gentle with a known fragile or live animal shipment then they would be over any shipment. It's crappy, but that's the truth.

So as long as I make it well padded and Maybe just label it fragil rather then live animal, I could be ok??

If you're looking for someone to ship for you, you're better off putting this thread in the shipping forum. I'd help but I'm no where near you.

I have received snakes through UPS on a few occasions. They allow you to ship lizards and a few other things without an account, just not snakes. Some people still ship snakes with them and just mark the box as live harmless reptile, and just pass them off as lizards. I don't know how DHL operates, but they may be another option.

I am not recommending this as a good way to ship, or even a way that I would. But whatever you do, don't send it through the USPS.
