Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

juvenile or adult?
Hello All,
I am planning to get another leo and would like some advice:
I think I want to get an adult, as they are already tame and I think they would be much easier to deal with if they are stressed upon arrival.
Are there any advantages to getting a juvenile? Is getting an adult a good idea? What breeders sell adult geckos?
Thanks for your help,
Kelly

Well adults can be more tame, but cost more from breeders because they are adults. THe advantage is adults are 100% sexed, no mixups in temp sexing. Depends what your fancy is.

The difference between adult and juvenile can be a couple of months. An adult isn't necessarily tame. Some are always a little skitish while others I want to check their pulse. Either way it is part of the fun having them grow to trust you. Also I really enjoy watching the development of their colors and patterns as they age. Something you would miss out on with an adult.
On the other hand you may be able to find a retired breeder or a pet that needs a home for a fair price.

Juveniles are fun to watch grow up and change, adults are pretty much developed already. Neither one is "better". I do have a few that are around 10 months that I have for $50-$75 on the fauna ads if you decide you want some older geckos. Chris.

I've had more luck health-wise with the ones I've acquired as juveniles. It depends. Obviously, if you definitely know and trust the breeder/previous owner it's different. But for instance, I've had two separate geckos that looked healthy when I bought them, but shortly after started losing weight as a result of not getting the right kind of calcium and vitamin supplements for the amount of breeding they had been doing. The earlier you get them, the more sure you are that they've had the best care from the beginning. Also, even though you can't tell what the exact final color and patterns will be in juveniles, you can get a pretty good idea, and you can buy the same great morph for half the price if you do it before they're sexable. Yesterday I bought a 3 mo old blizzard for $50 bucks.
