Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

How to Calm Down?
So, I had this bad accident in the kitchen and the doctors did everything to save the tip of my right index finger, but I have to have it amputated tonight and I can't calm down. Help!

I'm probably too late to comment since you said "tonight". Hope it all went well after the fact! This one of MANY excuses I give as to why I don't cook.

Hi Lilly,
You'll be alright. My grandfather didn't have the tips of three of his fingers due to a WWII accident and he was fine. Just take deep breaths and think positive. You can always attach a thimble or something low-tech to the tip of the finger to assist with typing, and I think you'll be surprised how quickly you adapt to it.
I know what you're going through right now. My mother is still in the hospital. Last Sunday her left arm became necrotic, and the doctors had to remove so much tissue that she will never be able to use her left wrist and hand again. I know it's not fair to compare injuries to each other, but losing the tip of a finger is really not a big deal. You'll be fine. Keep your chin up.

As you are typing, don't forget someone else is at their computer doing it with only 6 fingers instead. It is easy to focus on the 1/4 gone, don't forget it could have been worse. All things said, glad you are back and up to posting

Oh gosh, I had no idea you had six! Well that makes me grateful for the remaining 3/4!

Robert, do you seriously only have six fingers? Could've fooled me, given how much you type, lol!

If you thought it was me for a moment, and it got your mind off the K.I.A. 1/4 then that is good!

Psst...I have all 10, but don't tell Lilly... it appears to have helped relieve some of her worries...

My partner had a really bad compound fracture of his forearm, now thankfully healed but with slightly limited rotation that makes it hard for him to type for long on a regular flat keyboard - but we found a curved ergonomic keyboard that compensates nicely - just as well, he's never off the damn thing.
A friend of ours lost 3 fingers from one hand in a car accident, only retaining a thumb and first finger - he manages very well too.
It's amazing how the human body adapts. I like the thimble idea - you could get a silver antique one!
Hope you are starting to heal now Lilly.

Oh whatever, I seem to be getting along better, though the pain is unbearable at times...
