These females obese/overly fat?

Hello,
3 of my adult females have been rather larger since they bred lsst spring each gain about 25-30 grams after breeding till now.
I feed them 3-4 timesd a week (every other day) on mainly mealworm diet. The are all housed alone right now, I know for them to be at thier best fr breeding I don't want them to be fat. That brings me to another question is it true that typically leos don't over eat? I wouldn't say I over feed them they get maybe 20 mealies per feeding. So here they are

They look a little on the big side to me...but you know what they say lol, the camera adds 10g I wouldnt be over concerned, but maybe a littel bit more activity, and a little less food will get them a more healthy weight. Beautiful leos by the way!

The first one looks like she could stand to lose a little...the other 2 look good as long as they don't gain more weight. Overall they don't look very bad...I'd just maybe cut back on the first one's food a little.

they do look a bit over weight. you might want to go to every 2-3 days feeding and maybe cut back to 15 mealies per feeding... at least til they drop a bit of weight and then find that happy medium of health and slightly over weight... shoot or maybe i just wrong and they are "big boned" LOL

Maybe try a moving food, like crickets or roaches once in awhile. Something they have to chase and move around to get. Those are some BIG girls!!!!Beautiful though!

Carb free!

Not really. I think they look excellent. I think I only saw one girl with fat pockets that really stood out. The Hypo with one spot looks like she might have fat pockets. I would say they look fine. Did those girls breed this year? What I really like to see with my females is when during the breeding season they maintain their weight really well. I have seen some females that just do better than others during the season. Some loose tail mass and then put it all back on when they are through with egg production. But those girls that never seem to loose are the ones I really like. Just my two cents. Xavier those ladies look fine to me.

Thanks

Each one breed and produce very nice leos for me, all only gained weight not losing any thru the whole egg laying season.

sounds beneficial then !

to have them a bit on the big side ! if they have alot to work with , wont loose as much (i think) ....... and both babies and mom should be more healthy .... and they may even lay a few more eggs 4 ya all my gex look a lil fat when resting on their belly , if they still look huge when standing up , (or cant stand lol ) i would call them fat !

Chad...I have a leo that's quite thin with fat pockets...and one a little on the chunky side without them...I would not use fat pockets as any sort of indication of a gecko's weight health. As far as egg laying...I would think that being obese would make it more difficult to lay eggs making eggbinding a higher risk. I don't see any reason why most of the problems mammals incur with obesity would not occur in reptiles. I do think it's ok for females to be a little chunky before the breeding season starts, but not all year, and not extremely obese. Now I'm no expert...that's just my opinion.
