milksnake musking

My son has a yearling honduran milksnake. She is hand tame. he got her about 8 weeks ago. She doesnt bite him anymore. he holds her daily. The problem is she musks on him every time he holds her. Do milk snakes in general do this all the time? How could he prevent this?

Maybe hold her less than daily - too much handling may be stressing her out.

Give her a week or two undisturbed to settle and then try again less frequently.

This is very general advice - hope someone more experienced with milksnakes chimes in.

I agree with Helen's post.

My milksnake did the same thing, it continued for a while (6 months) but it eventually stopped, this is the advice some of the members here gave me:

My new baby burm squirted all over me the first few times I held him, but I didn't put him down even to clean up. Now he hisses a lot, but no more mess.
Hope it helps and good luck
