Question Moving, best way to transport herps

Hello all

I will be moving in a few weeks (from washington state to florida) this is a 3000 mile trip which will take approximately 4 days. What is the best way to travel with herps? I have several species and want to make sure everyone makes the trip ok. I own a minivan and would transport them with me in the van. And we will also use a uhaul truck for our non-animal belongings.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for reading my post.

Well, I've never moved any of my guys across country - the longest journey for any of them has only been a few hours at most. However, what I do is place them in a cotton bag and then in a Rubbermaid or Sterlite tub with ventilation holes drilled or melted (with a soddering iron) into the sides. I find that bagging most of my snakes makes them act calmer, as if they're hidden, and the tubs make sure no-one gets over crowded or squished. They also couldn't be left in the vehicle, for extended periods or overnight. You'd also have to find a way to make sure their ambient temperature isn't too high or low. However, that shouldn't be a problem with the vehicle running (A/C or Heat keeping things within tolerable limits). Do check to make sure if they're going to be sitting on the floor of the van that the floor doesn't get too warm.

That's about all I can come up with at the moment.

Dianne
