Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Another snake not eating, any adivce?
I am so frustrated, Houdini has always been a picky eater but a good one, once we got into a routine he ate every sunday. Well he hasn't eaten in 2 months. Temps are right, he has two hides on both sides of the tank, hasn't been exposed to any other reptiles, took him to the vet, he said he couldn't be any healthier except the eye cap on his left eye that I have to romove everytime he sheds but no big deal. Every sunday he used to start poking the top of his cage to tell me it was time to eat and he hasn't come out at all. I checked him yesterday to make sure he was still breathing. I haven't handled him alot cause I dont want him to get stressed out. I even tried a gerbil. he tried to escaped his feeding bin. I only try every sunday like normal. I dont want to upset him. Is there anything more I can do? Any advice.
Thanks
Kristy

Hi Kristy,
You can lead a horse to water.....
As long as all over your environmentals (temps, temp gradient, humidity, etc.) are all good and he is not being overly handled or in a high traffic area and has a clean bill of health from the vet I would not worry about it too much.
It is pretty common for males to go off feed for a couple (even several) months over the Winter and it really does not have any adverse effect on their health. If you are really worried about it you may want to try feeding in his home instead of a separate bin, but honestly I would not be too concerned considering the time of year it is and since your vet gave him a clean bill of health.

My good eater has quit for the last month and a half. My problem eater has been off for almost 3 months now. (he has gone 8 months) Probably just a seasonal thing. Some do that this time of year. One of mine does it when He pleases. LOL
Like shrap said, if everything is good, than don't worry too much about it. They can go a long time with out if they have to, or if they WANT to, in My case.

Weigh him occasionally to make sure he is not losing weight quickly. As long as he maintains his weight while not eating, than you need not worry too much. I have two that eat only once a month if I am lucky, good luck and remember: Patience.

Even my male corn will go off feed during the winter and he's a pig, even when i keep his temps up, he likes to fast (sometimes up to four months on one or two rats). As long as he isn't getting thin or sick, give him a while, and he'll get over it. :3
