Thermostat advice

I have recently ordered a snake rake from a vendor on Fauna. I currently have my BP's housed in 41 qt tubs with flexwatt for the belly heat. It is connected up to a cheaply made dial thermostat that does the job but I want to invest in a good thermostat for the future.

I am looking for advice on what to get to meet the following needs:

Must have a night drop mode
Must be able to handle enough wattage for 4-6 tubs worth of belly heat (the flexwatt is 4" recessed belly heat)
Would like it to be a bit expandable if possible

Essentially I am looking to have 4-6 breedable snakes max. I will then have to get another rack and thermostat for a hatchling setup but I will do that this fall/winter once I start breeding.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

A herpstat 2, 4, or Pro would be good. 4's and Pro'd would be more than you need at the moment considering they have 4 probes but a 2 will control 2 racks for you and it has night drop. You would not necessarily need to buy another thermostat when you get your other rack in the future. I just got a Pro a couple months ago and I love it. It works perfectly for everything we need and stays very consistent.

Good luck

I agree. The herpstats are very nice. You can't go wrong with one of them IMO. They are worth the money for sure.

Hey are the herpstats better than the helix thermostats?

I have both, and there's certainly nothing wrong with the Helix but the Herpstat is just slightly nicer IMO.

I would also say the Herpstat's are better than helix's. Any thermostat can become faulty at any time but I have heard too many horror stories about Helix.

Thank you for the advice. Based on the responses here, I went ahead and ordered a herpstat 2. The do not offer the herpstat pro anymore but they do offer the 4. Beings that I have no intentions (my wife would kill me) becoming a large scale breeder, I opted to go with the Herpstat 2.

Now if I can just get someone to cut me a decent deal on glass for my beardie cages, I will have a semi- professional looking reptile room.

Nice! Good pick up on the 2, I have one of those as well and I still love it. Works just like the day I got it.

Congrats to getting things taken care of, I know it's a good feeling.
