New Year's Resolutions- Weight Loss

So one of my New Year's Resolutions was to lose a few pounds. (Wait, didn't you resolve this same thing last year?)
I'm doing the usual: Exercise, more sensible food choices, orlistat, and so on.

But I also found a funny diet site that works on an unusual and interesting principle: You bet in writing, sending your resolve to some of your friends, that you can lose X number of pounds, actually bet money. If you win, you get your cash back. If you lose, you pay up.

But you have to decide on who you are going to pay, and it is suggested that it be some person or organization that is particularly hateful and slimy to you.

Being as how there are always slimy people that pop up on the BOI, it would seem that if anyone who wanted to lighten up a bit promised to pay some of the industry's slimiest characters, they would have a real incentive to stick to their diet plan.

Hmmmm - that's sort of an interesting tactic.
This is the first year that I've really felt a need to lose weight - the combination of significantly reduced activity levels (post Lyme disease) and a generally poor approach to food & nutrition added about 25 lbs in the past year. Since my knee is about as good as it is going to get, and it still doesn't allow for much in the way of exercise/activity, my best option is to correct my dietary issues...which is going to be a tough task (I know my weaknesses, lol).
The new dilemma: give money to somebody I loathe if I fail...or buy something for myself if I succeed. On the face of it, the choice is pretty simple - getting something for me means I win twice!! But, is that as strong a motivator? There are a couple of people in my past with whom I have had some pretty strong conflicts - people I would be more inclined set on fire than to look at. Giving either of them money because of my lack of willpower would be unthinkable...this might bear some more thought.

Good luck to you both! My friend TJ made a resolution to lose about 110lb ths year, and he's wll on his way!!! All he needs to do is file and go to court and she's GONE!!!!

I don't necessarily want to lose weight, but my goal this year is to eat healthier and try to workout at least five days a week. I love how I feel after I workout, but I hate actually doing it, lol.

I like that idea of placing bets though!
