Is this normal? (breeding question not morph question)

My male pastel het pied has been locked with my mojave 66% het pied for almost 72 hours now. I can't say for a fact that they aren't 'taking a break' at some point. But I check on the pair once in the morning, when I get home from work, after dinner, and before bed and they are always locked. Since it's the weekend now and I'm home I've been checking more often, but they are still locked.

I've been trying to catch them unlocked so I can separate them and give him a break! Is there a best time of day to catch them unlocked so that they don't breed themselves to death?

They won't breed themselves to death in one outing, just try to make sure he eats after the session and gets 4-5 days off to recover.
How small is the male?

The male was just under 900 grams when I put him in there. After a marathon like this I'll give him at least a week away from the ladies!!

I know, right? It's insane. They are still locked! Would now be a good time to mention that I'm a little jealous? Of course after the first few hours I might start to get bored...and hungry.
