Flat-Shell Turtle (Notochelys platynota)
After much deliberation I have decided to let go several of my acclimated juvie Notochelys platynota. These guys have been in the USA since August 20, 2016 (1st group) and October 20, 2016 (2nd group) and have done well since their arrival. They are eating a very wide variety of greens and fruits supplemented with pellets and Repashy gel food. This is NOT a beginner’s turtle species nor is it a cool novelty; this is a very difficult species which has a distinct tendency to die in captivity. I have kept them alive and happy for almost 4-6 months now (depending on date of arrival)and have adult specimens (not for sale) that have been already 2.5 years with me since importation. I have a better understanding of this species than most but still advice against keeping this species without utmost care and attention. My take is that you may be buying a very sturdy and established animal but there is no telling what they will do in a new home, just like almost any reptile for that matter. These guys have a definite advantage to recent imports as they have been head-started like no others.
$600 each plus shipping
I know the price is high, but it reflects the time and effort put into acclimating this species, plus I am not in any hurry or desperate desire to sell these guys. Please NO TRADES and price is firm. Shipping will be done next day air only to areas where weather allows it. Despite minor variations in plastron color intensity and pattern, these turtles all look the same so I can’t be taking individual pics of every single turtle. The pics here are very well representative of the group. Feel free to email with any specific questions you may have.
