Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Sent an email to the Gov. One thing I told him is that it shouldn't be easier to get a handgun (I'm not a gun control freak) then to get a hermit crab.

The bill is finally on the Governor's desk, and he must either sign or veto it by November 2. The contact info I have for his office is as follows:
(518) 474-8390 or by going to www.state.ny.us/governor/, and clicking on “contact the governor”.
Please act soon!!

That document is the history of the bill through the assembly, with the most recent action on 10/22/04, it being sent to the governor.

He hasn't signed it yet. Apparently the November 2nd date was incorrect. Keep track of the Press releases on Governor Pataki's site. http://www.state.ny.us/governor/. Keep spreading the word and encourage other reptile owners to send letters. There may be still a little time.

Thank you for that link, I have been looking around for updated information on this ban. I am moving to New York this week, and I am lugging all my snakes there. It sure would be too bad if I couldn't pursue this hobby because of this silly law.

Unfortunately, Gov. Patacki has signed the bill into law, effective Jan. 1. The information has not yet made it onto the bill web sites, but the Governor's executive office told me that he had signed it late last week.,....

I called the New York Senate and asked about the specifics of the law, but I'm still waiting for a response (I was able to speak with the right person, but he needed to ask more questions).
I'm waiting to find out the status on non-native venomous species, as well as certain species of boas and pythons.
This couldn't have happened at a better time though (Jennifer and I are planned to leave for New York today, but we can't go until we know that we will be able to breed and sell our pythons).
