Mouth Rot?

I have a young king snake that has small openings on the sides of his mouth. I treated for mites about a month ago, and that seemed to help. I don't see any mites now, but he still has small bulging openings on the sides of his mouth. They are symmetrical and not very big. I have opened his mouth and don't see any puss or goo. Seems pretty healthy and pink. I have been treating with betadine solution. Doesn't seem to be improving, or getting worse. He seems healthy in general and eats fine. Might this be mouth rot? Something I should worry about? Keep treating with betadine? The attached diagram shows approximate location and size as seen from underneath the snake. Any advise or opinions? Thank you.

I think betadine is a sensible precaution, but I'm sure photos would help if you can manage any.

That illustration looks more like an abscess than mouth rot. But either way, I'd recommend consulting a vet.

I had a blood python that developed a small abscess on the front of his mouth. I looked inside and things looked normal to me. I brought it to the vet (awesome exotics vet, now a zoo vet), and he visually diagnosed mouth rot but even after his good explanation I still couldn't see what he was seeing. A round of antibiotic injections cleared it up fine.

That's just a long way of saying that I agree that a vet visit would be well worth the trouble. I haven't had any other related instances of this sort of thing, but if I did I would see the vet without hesitation.

Update: Giving injections of Fortaz from the vet. He's getting better already!
