Question RBI CS3020-5 28 Qt snake rack - Heat Tape Faces Down?

Hello! I'm assembling my first snake rack and have a small issue with the heat tape portion and if anyone out there has this rack (or something like it) and can guide me here I'd appreciate it.

Okay so I assembled my rack (A CS3020-5 28 Qt snake rack from Reptile Basics) and my heat tape came prewired (which is awesome). I threaded the heat tape (facing UP) in through the first shelf as the instructions tell you, and then it goes on to say in the instruction book:
"Next feed the free end of the heat tape back onto the same slot that it exits, down through the opening between the shelf and side and out through the opening on the level below. (Fig 6) Holding the heat tape at as shown, (fig 7) pull out the excess until completely inside the rack. Repeat this for each shelf."

Does this mean that the heat tape faces DOWN on the next shelf? The photos really don't make it clear. Will it heat properly if the tape faces down? Will it melt the plastic? I don't want to mess this up, any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

And by 'facing down' I mean the copper strips face down, into the plastic, as opposed to the copper strips facing 'up' into the air. Should have made that clear. Thanks!

It's fine to route heat tape that way, it's fairly common in racks.
There is no top or bottom to heat tape, it heats the same regardless of which side is up.
