Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Growing Question
Hhmmmm, I was just wondering how long it takes Corn Snakes to grow??? I know it takes us about 18 to 20 years, and were pretty much grown. I read that Snakes never stop growing, is this true? I just would like to know how long it will take before hes a big boy? Thank You!

about 2-3 years
Corn snakes (all snakes really) grow the fastest in the first 3 years of life. After that, their growth rate slows down, but yes...they do continue growing all their life. Your corn snake will be a "big boy" in about 2-3 years depending on how often he's fed and whether he's brumated over the winters. They can reach breeding age at 1.5 years old, but it's much better to wait till they're 2.5 years old.

What does brumating them do?? I am guessing slow it down because they eat less?? Yes, no?? Thank You

Burmation is a period of a cornsnakes life cycle where they hibernate at lower temperatures (usually around 55 degrees).
It isn't necessary unless you plan on breeding your cornsnake.

Oh no, I knew what brumation was, and why to do it. I was just asking how brumating them affected their shedding, and I guessed shed less often when brumating. Sorry Nope, I don't plan on breeding, but maybe someday!

O, I'm sorry. Some how I misunderstood your question.
You do not feed during burmation & the lower temperatures slow growth. I never burmate if a snake is under 200grams.

generally speaking....
Brumation slows the growth process down to almost nothing. I've had snakes lose some weight during brumation, some actually gained weight (drinking water?), but most stay very nearly the same weight throughout the brumation period. They will still shed in brumation.

Thats ok TripleMoons, it was my fault. I guess my communication skills aren't great. When talking in person I often change subject a lot, or have problems clearly stating my point. I am working on that. I don't know if its better or worse when I type compared to talking. OH well! Thanx for answering my question you guys! I am all but to anxious to have him grow up, and then when hes big I'll wish he was a baby!
