Fat Texas ratsnake?

I have a female Lucy Texas Rat who eats like a champ. I otherwise own ball pythons, so she always looks skinny to me. When she is folded up, sometimes I can see the skin between the scales. Is it time to put her on a diet? I'm so used to plump snakes, which makes her look thin to me sometimes.

What is a good weight range for the females to breed? I've seen that 40 inches in length is the recommended general size, but nothing more specific than that.

She laid a clutch of eggs a few years ago, sadly they were drowned in the water before I got home from vacation. I'd thought she was a male who'd been housed with another Lucy male, drat the luck! She was pretty thin after that, but ate well and filled out, possibly too much, ha ha..

Thanks for reading

If the skin is showing between the scales when she's coiled up, it's no big deal. That's just from the skin being stretched. However, if you can see the skin between the scales when she's in a straight position, then it's probably time for a diet.

ah ha! Awesome, thanks! She only seems to have this issue when coiled, it just seemed to be more skin exposed than I am used to with my other snakes. She's pretty reliable as far as eating goes, but it didn't seem she was getting THAT bad!
