5 degrees/-20 WC = spring?????

Those were the temps when I walked out of work this morning. The Dr Pepper I had left in my truck (in case of emergency, lol) had slushed up, and had to be brought into the house. But today is the first day of spring, so all is well.

That's right, I decided not to be quite as slow about things this year, so the milksnakes were put into brumation at a decent time & were brought upstairs today. I'm still whittling down the colubrids, but I think the albino nelson's are going to stay with me for at least another year...unless this thread brings forth a dissenting opinion (relax, and let go of the mouse - no need to PM or email me with offers or dissenting opinions, lol...if it comes, I will let you know in the form of an ad). The sinaloans, well, I'm not too sure, but I will probably be putting them on the blocks after they get a few meals in them.

The second day of spring will be in about 2 weeks, when I bring the bullsnakes upstairs. I've actually missed having them up here. I can always count on a couple of them to be making noise whenever I fuss nearby. I haven't decided what will be paired with what this year - the biggest mysteries will come from a male whitesided (salt & pepper) that is supposedly a multi-het, and from a female that hasn't really been properly identified. She came to me as a female ???? and, in asking around, I have gotten several opinion about what she may be. I found a male that looked just like her, but the seller didn't know what he was (was hoping I could ID him, lol) and ended up flaking out on me so I couldn't make the purchase. I may just breed her to my snow this year (she is definitely an albino somethingorother) to see what comes out. Time will tell. Anybody that is really good at identifying bull morphs - if you want to take a stab at IDing her, drop me a line.

I also have a couple of things that I decided to try not brumating. I slowed feeding a bit, but will pick it up when I start the milks and see how it goes.

well, they have been upstairs for a week - I haven't started their daytime heat, yet, but all have fed twice on f/t rat pinks (1 per meal). They showed no interest when I offered the pinks, but they all ate them within 10 minutes of me leaving the room. Once I get them back in their rack (today, definitely), with daytime heat, their normal feeding responses will return and we will be prepping for breeding (early for me, but I am still behind a lot of people, lol).
