Twitter account hacked

I'm not high tech and I don't really get into all the Twitter type stuff but there were a few tweeters I liked to look in on every once in a while. Went to check and my account had been hacked and someone was tweeting weight-loss spam from my account.

I've shut my account down, but wonder how prevalent that kind of hacking is.

I shut mine down a long time ago because someone was advertising porn through my account.

I think it is very prevalent there.

Two of my Yahoo mail accounts have been hacked 3-5 times in the last month
Got to be something besides a password breach . . . . . .

My facebook password was cracked a couple years ago, and they signed me up for the live poker game app. (Who even knew that was on there?) I'm glad I never registered any credit cards, and took the steps to boot them out. Now I roll with much harder random passwords. Just got an email the other day, "sorry you're having trouble logging into your FB account". Nice try, guys.

Each of those main social networking sights have HTTPS available, you just have to search them out. You can also use secure browsers/apps for browsers to help up the security for your accounts. Make sure you're seeing HTTPS up top before you go on them. It's not a surefire way to prevent being hacked, but it's another step to help avoid it.

If you cant find where to enable secure browsing, simply type "s" at the end of "http". You might have to keep typing it in for every thing you click, but most should keep it there.

Annnd for those who don't know what I'm talking about, I'll use facebook as an example:

haha
I had someone open a facebook using my email, they must have used is as a secondary or something, I kept getting notifications in Indonesian from facebook. I recovered the password, changed it and cancelled the acct. Then got a slew of 'are you trying to recover your password?' emails.
