Memorable bites

I grew herping in the deserts of southern California, and I been bit more times than I can count, mostly by kings. Got tagged on the SHOE once by a sidewinder, after that experience, I stopped chasing hots.
The worst bite was from my big burm, and that was my fault, I startled him. It was a quick bite and release though, it could have been a lot worse.
Funniest one had to be the beardie bite, I was hand feeding supers and my big female just got a bit excited and munched the tip of my thumb with her worm, a little extra protein in her diet that day.
I have a male red tail that has been trying to get me for two years, he hasn't managed it yet, so maybe I've finally learned how to stay out of the way.

Many people are afraid of snakes, but i'm afraid of those little dwarf hamsters. Those things will bite the fire out of you. When I was dating my wife she had a dwarf hamster and I had a boa. The hamster bit her clean through her finger. She was so mad she wanted to give it to her cat. I told her that was inhumane and "lets feed it to the boa". She agreed, I married her!

I finally have something to contribute here! I'll show the pic first...

This was from one of my largest male leopard geckos! He wanted down, and apparently I wasn't going fast enough for him, so he turned around and gave me a good bite!

Actually...you can see him in my avatar! Just goes to prove...if it has a mouth, it can bite.

I agree about the rodent thing. Working at various pet stores, ive been bit by all kinds of hamsters, gerbils, etc., ball pythons, kingsnakes, tokays, and a baby monitor once.

The worst ever was a guinea pig, lol. The two boys were fighting, i had to seperate them. Opened the cage, stuck my hand in to grab one of them (they were on opposite ends of the cage at this point.) and BAM. The second he got me i started bleeding like crazy everywhere. and it wouldnt stop. it was on the base of my thumb and swelled up huge within minutes. didnt help i am allergic to guineas. so for the next week I could barely move half my hand, let alone write or anything.

LOL! I have to share my latest bite story. Seems like all the girls in the household have to tag me at least once! I checked on my '05 hypo BCI female the other evening - she had shed earlier in the day. Well, at some point, she decided to wear the end of a shed (from vent to tail tip) ON HER HEAD like a ski mask/dunce cap. The "point" from her tail shed was sticking straight up in the air! Well, I normally feed them in the evenings, and it was getting fairly close to feeding day... I reached in to remove her fashion statement and BLAMMO. Should've seen it coming, since her shed hat covered her head over her eyes so she probably had no clue as to what that huge warm thing heading towards her was and probably couldn't smell me either. 'Twas just a flesh wound! I should've snapped a photo before I took that off of her though- too funny-looking!

I just saw this thread and wanted to share my most memorable bites. I have been bitten a number of times (always my fault BTW), but 2 stand out. The 1st was by my 12 foot Burmese that I was feeding in an open area. I got sloppy and moved my hand which the snake of course tracked. I managed to move my hand out of the way, but unfortunately my leg was behind it. It hit and then tried to unlatch, but was having difficulty. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed my 9 year old son's wide eyes, as he turned very calmly and then started yelling "Mom I think Dad needs some help"... A new brain would be good. The 2nd was almost as stupid. I was feeding my 7 foot IJ Carpet python, and I assumed I knew where his head was as I lifted the food item into his enclosure. He left a perfect set of double row impressions on my wrist. We took pictures they were so distinct. I should really take pictures of his head as well, so I can remember which end is which :-).
