Talking Breeding Tips and Tricks

I have searched for a thread such as this and did not find one. So I am starting one!

Come one come all... and post up any and all breeding tips or tricks.

not looking for "rules of thumb" or "general knowledge".

looking for something someone may have told you that you may not have known that did the trick and got your BP's to start breeding, improved your breeding schedules, clutch #'s, reduced slugging, improved sex drives... what ever it may be!

I don't know if this goes for everybody, but I've found that all my males ( even at 400-ish grams ) have high sex drives. Just like humans these poor little guys do all the work. I feel bad for the big guys circling, and nosing their tubs until it's time to be paired.

heard if you put a ready to breed female's shed in with a male it improves their drive a bit haven't tested it out yet though.

Pairing up before a storm I read can get snakes in the mood- I actually just tried this out. 2 of the three i paired p locked. I was getting no locks for a bit, and i paired them up the day of a snow storm... I think i read its the change in the baromatic pressure or something.

clearing sperm pluges out of a non breeding male might also help a lockup to happen.

Feed the female prior to introducing male. I found that tip on a breeders site, and with doing so, my spider is locked up within the first night. It seems if the female doesn't eat prior to introducing them it takes a bit longer for him to "get going". Coincidence???
