Soaking in water bowl

Hey all
My 3 yr old cali king is constantly soaking in his water bowl. No mites are present. What else could be causing this behavior? This started happening once the summer rolled in, here on the east coast. Ambient is at 82-84. Hotspot (pad with stat) is at 90. Humidity is 35-40.

thanks

Humidity sounds a little low, probably soaking cause it's too dry.

I thought kings required low humidity?

Excessive soaking in reptiles can also indicate pain and or discomfort. Has he been acting okay? Poops normal? Could be just a fluke thing, and he might just really enjoy sitting in his waterbowl.

Just because they're a desert species in nature doesn't mean they don't frequent areas of higher humidity when they need to.

He routinely soaks in his bowl. Have since given him a bigger bowl.

She is in blue here, but will also enjoy a cool soak any time.

Bull snakes like a good soak, too.

Nobody has mites or any other ailment, it is just a hot summer.

I was thinking that its probably just the hot summer here in the East. he's acting otherwise normal. Feeding & defecating like clockwork.
